Community Engagement

The Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority is pleased to acknowledge that the 32-month planning process (that began in 2004), Connecting Cleveland: The Waterfront District Plan, attracted more than 5,000 people to over 200 Port community and stakeholder meetings.  As a result, many thousands of ideas were generated by a variety of people on how best to reshape Cleveland’s Lakefront and improve access between the shoreline and the adjacent neighborhoods.

The Port, in conjunction with the City and our consultant team, have taken all of the questions and comments collected during the 2004 process, and are utilizing that feedback as a guideline for further development of the strategic plan.  Our overall goal was to expound on input received from 2004.  Over the past several months, the Port has obtained additional key learnings through community engagement of groups, organizations and stakeholders.  Additional feedback was gained from the general public, who were invited to attend three different public meetings, which included a presentation of the Draft Master Plan, and encouraged open dialogue with the Master Planners, Port executives, and City of Cleveland Planning officials.
